Anzac Day

This week we have been note-taking and fact-finding to gather information about Anzac Day. We looked at maps to see how far the Anzacs travelled, and remembered all those lost in the war. We used key words and feelings to write poems and made Anzac pictures. Then we published our writing and coloured in Anzac-themed borders. We are really proud of our work -do come and see it!

Happy Easter!

Well we've reached the end of Term 1, and what a busy term it's been!
Next term we can swap our sunhats for slippers and get ready for Wednesday hot dogs once again. Please remember to keep reading over the holidays and practise Mathletics as much as you can - see if you can reach the top 50 chart!
Have a great holiday and enjoy spending time with your family and friends. Travel safely and don't eat too many Easter eggs! Happy Holidays everyone!

Butterfly at last!

Our chrysalis has been changing colour and we noticed on Friday that it was a lot darker. Yesterday it seemed clear, with the Monarch wing pattern clearly visible through it. At lunch time, it hatched into a beautiful butterfly, and after a while had pumped up its wings enough to open them.
After school we had to put it outside in the Butterfly garden with all the lovely flowers. We have really enjoyed watching the metamorphosis from caterpillar to chrysalis and then to butterfly.

Picasso Portraits - works of art!

Have a look at the finished paintings. Well done Room 15, you did a fantastic job!

Picasso Portraits - work in progress

Over the past few weeks, Room 15 have been looking at Pablo Picasso's portraits. We then started studying each other's faces and sketching portraits.
9-Picasso-heads
We have been focusing in particular on side profiles- of eyes, mouths and noses, as this is what Picasso included in his portraits to give them their unusual features. Once we got the hang of this - quite tricky details to draw - we included some profile features in our portraits.
